Businessman Peter Kopsaftis Announces Candidacy for Congress in the 8th District

South Barrington: Peter Kopsaftis, a South Barrington businessman, has announced his candidacy for the United States Congress in the 8th Congressional District. The newly drawn congressional map was voted on by the legislator and signed by the Governor. Kopsaftis will run for the Republican nomination in the June 28, 2022, General Primary.
Kopsaftis is an immigrant from Greece who became a citizen of the United States and then achieved his “American Dream”. He served in the US Army Reserves and has served his community by involving himself in the political process. Today he serves as the Republican Committeeman for Barrington Township.
Kopsaftis has raised his family and created his businesses in the suburbs of Chicago. His expertise is in Real Estate and Real Estate financing. He serves on the board of the Greek American nursing home in Wheeling and he has been a loyal supporter of candidates for office who he believes will have a positive impact on our country, our state, and our local governments.
“It is an honor for me to run for the United States Congress. I have a lifetime of experience that has prepared me for this undertaking and I would not have done this without the support and encouragement of family, friends and acquaintances who share my values,” said Peter Kopsaftis.
“As an immigrant we come to this country because of the promise that is the American Dream. It means that you can work hard and achieve anything you want because we are a free country. What we have seen these past few years is an acceleration and expansion of government that is unprecedented and it endangers our freedoms by shifting rights from the people to the government, said Kopsaftis.
“There is no freedom when you have crippling inflation and massive debt that we are placing on our children and grandchildren. This is not the type of vision that people have of the future for our children. I don’t believe that current Congressman for the 8th District represents the views of his constituents so I am in the race for 2022,” said Kopsaftis.
Peter Kopsaftis lives in South Barrington with his wife Frances. Together they have a son, Paaris and daughter in law Marisa, and a new grandchild Venetsiana.
